How Do You Set Up A Simple Circuit For Elementary Students?
Building a simple circuit for elementary students is a straightforward way to show students electricity in action. A circuit itself is essentially just a link between a negatively charged object and a positively charged object. Unable to move through the air, negatively charged electrons require a bridge to migrate to positively charged areas. Students will thus learn first hand that electricity is provided by a current of electrons moving between areas of differential charge within a circuit. Push one thumbtack though the thin piece of flat metal, then into the block of wood. Push the other thumbtack into the wood so the metal can be pushed down to touch the second thumbtack. Attach one piece of wire to one of the thumbtacks on the switch you created in Step 1. Twist the wire around the light bulb, then tape one end of the battery to the other end of this piece of wire. Tape the other end of the battery to the second piece of wire. Connect the remaining thumbtack on the switch you cre
