Digital video recorders, or DVRs, are used to record television programming for future viewing. They are similar to VCRs, but they store information on a hard drive, like a computer’s, instead of on videocassette. Many DVRs are available with subscription to wide variety of cable providers and are used to record cable shows, but DVRs, generally speaking, can be used to capture any television signal. They can easily be connected to televisions and set up with the use of the DVR remote. Connect your DVR to your television. This can be done with the cables provided with your DVR, such as RCA cables or component cables. Connect the cables to the appropriate output ports on your DVR and the input ports on your television.
