Follow the steps below to find out how you can set the AutoRecover Directory to be a folder of your choosing in Microsoft Word. Start Microsoft Word 2003, and open an existing document from your files or create a new, blank document. Choose the “Tools” menu, and click “Options” to open the “Options” dialog box. Select the “File Locations” tab from the top of the “Options” dialog box to display the settings for various file locations within Word. Click “AutoRecover files” from the “File locations” list so it is selected. It will be highlighted in blue once it is selected.
