One of the easiest ways to build a fence is to use pre-built fence panels. These panels tend to cost more than buying all the materials separately to make the panels. However, the additional cost is worth the amount of time saved when installing the fence. These panels are available in many different designs and sizes. The most common lengths for these panels are eight and 10 feet. The process of installing the fence is simplified, but the posts still need to be set the proper way to ensure the fence will last for years. Measure the length of the panels. This measurement will be the spacing for the posts, center to center. Lay out the location of the posts. This can be done with stakes and string line or by eye. Mark each post location with a dot of white marking paint. Dig holes at each post location two foot deep, using post hole diggers. The spacing of the posts is important to the stability of the fence.
