Although there is no standard hair style for a flamenco dancer, these dancers typically have long hair. But they may wear their hair up, twisted in an ornate bun or French twist, or they may have it down, flowing over their shoulders with a plethora of curls. The style is purely a personal choice. Even the use of a comb is optional. And a comb can be worn in either an “up” or a “down” hair style. However the hair is fixed, be sure the comb is securely anchored with bobby pins or hairpins so that it won’t fall out during the performance. Perhaps the simplest way to wear a comb is with a little hair pulled back and the rest draping gracefully over the neck. Pull back a little hair from each side of the face. Optionally, you can also comb back some hair from the top of the head. Gather this hair together at the crown and secure it with a ponytail band.
