Sending and receiving text messages online can be very convenient, especially if you are in an area that does not get a good mobile signal or you do not have access to a cell phone. Luckily, it is very easy to send and receive text messages online if you have an email account. Open your email application. You can use either an email program like Microsoft Outlook or a browser-based application like Gmail or Yahoo! email. Enter the 10-digit phone number you wish to text in the “TO” address field in your email application . Then enter the carrier code, depending on what wireless carrier your text message recipient uses. For example, if you want to email someone on the Sprint network who has a phone number of 555-765-4321 you would enter 5557654321@sprintpcs.com into the “TO” address field. Some of the more common carrier codes in the U.S. are: AT&T—XXX@txt.att.net, Verizon—XXX@vtext.com, Alltel—XXX@message.alltel.com, Nextel—XXX@messaging.nextel.com, Boost—XXX@myboostmobile.com
