The Consumer Electronics Association and the National Association of Broadcasters have a resource that can help you determine the best antenna for your geographic location and the signal strengths. They have a website called AntennaWeb (see Resource) that you can use to decide if you need a new antenna and, if so, what kind. Plug your existing antenna into your high-definition TV (HDTV) and see if it works. The new digital signals come from the same towers that used to broadcast the old analog signals. Make sure your TV is set to scan for over-the-air signals, as opposed to cable or satellite service, and perform a scan. Verify the channels on your digital television. Scroll through them.
