How Do You Select A Guitar Cable?
Selecting the proper guitar cable is a more confusing process than you may think. Not only do you have to make sure that you buy a guitar cable as opposed to a speaker cable or another type of cable, you also have to think about cable length, quality and price. You will also want to think about the angle of the plug (straight plugs as opposed to right-angle plugs). For instance, if you have a Fender Stratocaster–type guitar with the cable input embedded into the body of the guitar, you will want to stay away from right-angle plugs. Acquaint yourself with the different types of guitar cables. Longer cables or cordless units may be needed if you intend to play shows, but 10-foot cables are an excellent length for a novice guitar player. Some cables come with plated plugs in order to increase the quality of the guitar signal, but unless your intent is to record, a regular cable will do.
