You can’t control the weather. You can’t control the crowds at the popular tourist attractions. But, when you plan a trip, one thing you can control is your hotel. Whether you prefer all-inclusive resorts, hostels, bed and breakfasts or anything in-between, there are certain steps you can take to pick a great hotel. CHECK WITH THE LOCAL TOURISM EXPERTS: When planning a trip, I like to start with the official tourism site for the city, state, region or country I’m visiting. To find this site, I usually search for “[name of place] + travel” or “[name of place] + tourism.” These sites typically have listings of hotels and other types of accommodations. From there, you can typically link to the site of the hotel, inn, bed and breakfast or other accommodation you’re considering for more details.
