Read below for a easy side trip with lots of alligator viewing. Arrive on State Road 41 which runs between Miami in the east and Naples in west, and is south of Alligator Alley. This little side trip is worth the drive. Turn off on State Road 94. The road is within Big Cypress National Preserve and terminates in the west at Monroe Station. If you enter from the east side there is a residential area. Do not turn back, continue west. Follow the loop. A few miles in you will leave the pavement and start the most scenic part of your journey on the shell road. At first your will have to peer though the bushes on either side of the road to spot alligators.
