How Do You Secure A Tent With Stakes?
Stakes are essential to the stability and security of your tent. For the most stability, use stakes that are at least 10 inches long. Consider replacing standard plastic stakes with steel stakes. Drive them deeply into the ground and at the proper angle so your tent can withstand windy weather. Select level ground that is free of rocks to pitch your tent. Spread the tent on the ground and pull out each corner and side completely. Locate each loop for the tent stakes and lay a stake at each spot. Choose a corner to drive the first stake. Pull the loop out tightly from the tent and place the stake into the loop. Insert the tip of the stake into the ground with the top of the stake angled outward away from the tent. Pound the stake into the ground with the hammer until the top of the stake is flush with the ground. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 with the corner of the tent that is opposite lengthwise. Repeat the same steps to secure the other two corners. Drive in any other stakes along the sides.
