How Do You Secure A Belkin Wireless Router?
Wireless routers allow you to access the Internet and other networks from any connected computer in your home or office. If you have not secured your wireless router, though, freeloaders can take advantage of your Wi-Fi without your even knowing. Even worse than Internet grubbers, though, are identity thieves and hackers. They can easily access your computer and all your important files by gaining entrance through your wireless network. Secure your router before any damage is done. Turn on a computer that is connected to the wireless router. Open the Internet browser and type in the IP address of the router, which would be in the user manual. The default IP address is “http://192.168.2.1.” Press “Enter.” Click the “Login” link at the top left of the page. The “Login” screen will open. Leave this password field blank and click “Submit.” Click “Security” in the “Wireless” section of the task pane on the left of the screen.
