How Do You Seal An Oil Pan Leak?
Many oil pan leaks can be remedied with zero to 10 dollars invested. The right tools and five minutes to an hour of your time, should be all that is needed. The costless checks first. Make sure the oil drain plug is snug tight. Make sure all of the oil pan bolts are tight. If you found one or more loose bolts, the job is probably finished with no money spent. This was your lucky day. If you discover the drain plug is stripped out, replace it with a one size larger bolt. Hopefully, it will screw in without having to get a tool and die set out to re-thread the hole. You can spray clean the possibly leaking areas and give the car a test drive, if you want to conclude the leakage has been stopped. If after a test run, there’s still leakage, where the oil pan attaches to the engine, it’s time to get the proper replacement gasket from an auto parts store and a tube of gasket sealer. If you find an unwelcome hole in the oil pan, screw in a bolt just large enough to completely fill the hole up
