Step 1 Cut a strip of Teflon tape long enough to wrap around the pipe several times. A strip of about 10 inches is recommended, but it depends on how large the gas pipe is. Step 2 Wrap the threaded end of the pipe with the Teflon tape in a clockwise manner. Make sure the tape is only on the threads of the pipe.
