Now, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of a clean air filter in your hvac unit.So,the filter is always the first place to look. If you can possibly look at the evaporator coil found near the filter, inspect it and make sure that it is clean too. It will look like a radiator with fins. Brush it down and wash with a household cleaner, rinse thoroughly. Place a good thermometer in the return air stream where your filter is. Record this temperature after about five minutes. Now, do the same at the coldest vent or outlet. There should be between 18 and 20 degrees F
