How Do You Save Money Making An Eco-Friendly Lemon Powdered Laundry Detergent?

You can make your own laundry detergent with all-natural products that are not harmful to the environment. This particular detergent also goes a long way, which will save you quite a bit of money over time. Put ½ cup of washing soda crystals (or sodium carbonate and frequently used as a water softener) in a plastic bag and crush into a fine powder using a rolling pin. Mix the finely-crushed washing soda crystals with 1 cup finely grated pure soap, ½ cup each of salt, borax, and baking soda. Add at least ¼ teaspoon of essential oil of lemon. Distribute the essential oil through the powder using your hands. Store in an airtight jar or box. To use, dissolve in a jug of hot water before adding to a top-loading washing machine. For a front-loading washing machine, dissolve the powder in a small amount of hot water and then add to the dispenser. Use the following amounts of powder: 1 tablespoon for a small load, 1½ tablespoons for a medium load, and 2 tablespoons for a large load.
