It’s just one of those necessary evils, but we need clean clothes. Why not save a little money, lengthen the lifespan of your wardrobe, and stop killing the environment while doing the laundry. First of all, throw out the liquid fabric softener and never waste money on it again. You don’t need it. It’s made of rendered animal fats that essentially coat your clothes and other laundry with what they call “quats” (quaternary ammonium salts) to make them “feel” soft and really shorten their lifespan. Not to mention, it actually traps in odors. It can also make your washing machine and drain smell bad too. The dryer sheets of fabric softener are fine to keep static cling at bay. The bottles are usually made of a petroleum based plastic and take a lot of energy to produce. Invest in a box of Borax. It’s usually sold near the bleach, and will cost you a mere $2.50-$4.00. It will take the place of a multitude of cleaners and stain removers. Add about 1/2 cup to a load of laundry and you can us
