How Do You Save Excel 2010 File As A Semicolon Delimited Text File?
You can save as a semicolon-delimited .csv file if you make a temporary change to your “decimal separator” settings. The decimal separator is what the system puts between the integer and decimal places in a number. Usually (in the US anyway) the decimal is a period so a number would look like “156.23”. If you change the decimal separator to a comma (so numbers would show up like “156,23”) then a .csv file actually uses semicolons to separate items. You can change the decimal separator setting in Excel Options > Advanced > Editing options. Uncheck the “Use system separators” setting and put a comma in the “Decimal separator” field. Now you can save the file in .csv format and it will be semicolon delimited. Assuming you don’t always want to see “156,23” you can then change re-check the “Use system separators” setting to go back to “156.23”. You can later toggle that check box whenever you want to save something in semicolon-delimited format.
