How Do You Safely Go Winter Camping?
It might seem crazy to go camping in the snow but if you have the right equipment and are prepared, winter camping can be an awesome experience. Here are some things to know if you plan on spending the night in the snowy forest. When wet, cotton clothing loses its insulation quality, either by rain, snow or sweat so avoid wearing cotton. You’ll survive longer naked then in wet clothes. Black feet mean frostbite. If any body parts start to turn black, seek medical attention ASAP. If you are shivering, you won’t lose much body heat. If you stop shivering, you are losing energy. When it’s time to sleep, put extra clothes and your boots inside your sleeping bag. You’ll stay warmer at night and they will be warm and ready to wear in the morning. Always use at least one pad, maybe two, under your sleeping bag in the winter.
