The Boilermaker Road Race, a 15k run through Oneida County in New York, was established in 1976 and is now described as one of the biggest and best road races of its kind in the country. Here are some things to think about if you’re planning to run it. Educate yourself on the race and course. The route typically starts out at Utica Boilers at Dwyer and Culver Avenues, then passes Mohawk Community College, Utica Zoo, Utica College and St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital. Pace yourself. This is a challenging course in July heat with at least one significant hill, so train accordingly. Register for the race.
