How Do You Run Bases Correctly In Youth Baseball?
At higher levels of baseball, running the bases is taken for granted. However, at youth baseball levels, learning to run the bases is a critical component of the game and may mean the difference between scoring a run and making an out. Youth baseball also has different baserunning rules to promote greater levels of competitiveness within the game. Some of these rules include no leading off the base and in some lower youth leagues, no stealing or advancing bases on passed balls or on wild pitches. Lean toward the next base on the diamond without losing contact with the base you are on. Keep your eye on the ball as it is thrown from the pitcher to home plate. Follow the ball with your eyes carefully after contact is made. If the ball is in the air and there are fewer than two outs, advance halfway to the next base and wait to see if the ball is caught.
