Power inverters can be connected to a battery to use in your vehicle to run many types of small electronic devices such as a DVD player, television or even a microwave oven. A power inverter converts the DC current from the battery to AC power that is required by these electronic devices. You can run a power inverter from the battery of your car by first connecting the power cable and the ground wire for the unit. Step 1 Remove the nut that is securing the positive battery cable to the battery terminal. Step 2 Place the power ring for the inverter over the bolt on the positive battery connector. Step 3 Replace the nut and tighten it with the wrench. Step 4 Locate a bolt, with a nut, in the engine compartment to use for the ground cable. Step 5 Remove the nut with the wrench. Step 6 Strip about ½ inch of insulation from the end of the ground cable with wire cutter. Step 7 Place a ring connector over the end of the ground cable and crimp it on using a wire crimper.
