How Do You Run A Memory Check On A Computer?
The Random Access Memory (RAM) on a computer is what allows the system to run multiple applications at once, without slowing things down. Often times, if the system is running low on memory, a warning will display advising the user to close applications to free up memory. This can be the result of bad memory. It is a smart idea to run periodic memory checks to ensure everything is working properly. Open the “Windows Start” menu and select the “Control Panel.” Select “System and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Memory Diagnostics Tool.” Enter your administrator password. Click “Restart Now and Check for Problems.” Windows will restart and begin testing the installed memory. If the test returns no errors, a message will be displayed and you can launch into Windows. If errors are detected, the specific errors will be displayed – at this point, it is advised to contact the computer manufacturer or bring the computer to be looked at to repair the memory errors.
