How Do You Root A Mandevilla Plant?
Mandevilla is indigenous to Brazil–it is sometimes referred to as Brazilian jasmine. It is an ornamental flowering vine that produces a plethora of trumpet-shaped, 3- to 4-inch-wide flowers that blooms nearly all summer long. To root mandevillas is best accomplished by softwood cuttings acquired in spring. Cut several sections between 2 and 10 inches long off of a growing branch of a mandevilla plant right below a leaf. Make the cuts in a diagonal direction. Plan on acquiring the cuttings after a rain, or after watering is done in the morning. Remove leaves 2 inches up from the cut on each of the mandevilla cuttings. Cut the rest of the leaves in half. Place the cuttings into a glass of water until you are ready to plant them. Fill up a basin or bucket with 10 cups of water. Add to the water 1 cup of household bleach.
