The NXE, short for New Xbox Experience, update was the first dashboard redesign on the Xbox 360, released in 2008. Not only did it provide a more user-friendly layout than the old dashboard, but it also added several new features, such as the ability to design an avatar or play videos with Zune software. One of the most awaited features of the update was the ability to rip games to the hard drive (HDD). Ripping games to the HDD speeds up load times and also increases a console’s life span by taking stress off the DVD drive. Update your console with the NXE software if necessary by signing into Xbox Live and accepting the automatic software update. If the Xbox 360 does not prompt you to update the software, you already have the latest update. Place the game you wish to rip into the Xbox 360’s game drive.
