How Do You Ride Chutes On A Snowboard?
A chute is a narrow passage down the mountain and is often steep and sometimes soft or icy. Chutes can be difficult to negotiate on a snowboard at first, but with a few pointers and some practice, they can become another exciting thrill of snowboarding. Practice riding chutes by entering rocky or tree-covered areas that force you to make necessary turns. Scout the chute carefully before entering, especially when you’re unfamiliar with the terrain. Note any hazards along the way. Visualize your path down through the chute before you enter. Make your carve turns at the widest part of the chute. Try to traverse quickly through the narrowest section. Side slide or jump turn through the narrow part of the chute if you can’t get through it with a carve turn.
