How do you revert back to an old number plate from a private one?

You can insure it on the private plate and notify the insurance once the plate transfer is complete, you do not need to buy the plate from him! Once the car is insured the police will know it is the same car and that it’s in the process of having the plate transfer, its all computerised and they’ll know you are covered.. If you do an hpi check it will show the plate transfer but will also show the chassis number and engine number so check them against the car you are buying to make sure they match up. People buy and sell cars all the time and do plate transfers outwith the sale, don’t worry, the guy you’re buying from will probably know the procedure and be able to show you proof that he’s done the transfer when you pick up the car. I’ve transferred mine several times, usually when I’ve sold the car it was on or when I’ve traded in for a newer car and transferred the plate to the new car. Good luck with your new car EDIT: Just incase he doesnt tell you, you cannot bear the cars origina
