How Do You Reupholster A Foot Rest?
All you need to reupholster a foot rest is a few tools and a little time. Spend time in advance planning what color you’d like your foot stool to be once you upholster it, and how thick the foam padding should be. You might also want to split several large garbage bags open and lay them down beneath the stool you’re working on to catch any shreds of fabric or foam that might fall and make clean up easy. Remove the old fabric from the foot stool. Check to see if the foam padding beneath the fabric is still usable. If the foam’s yellowed, worn, crumbling or breaking apart, tear it off, too. Trim a new foam pad to size, if necessary, and place it on the foot rest. Glue it in place to keep it centered if you must, but be warned that this will make any future replacements more difficult because it’s hard to get the foam off again.
