An SLC 500 processor is a programmable logic controller. Companies use the SLC 500 processor for equipment such as packaging machinery, machine tools and textile machinery. It may become necessary to reset the SLC 500 processor to its initial factory conditions. This is a difficult process and should only be attempted by more experienced users. Disconnect the power running to the SLC 500 processor. Remove the processor from its chassis. Remove the battery connector from the socket on the SLC 500 processor. This disconnects its battery. Locate the VBB and GND connections. These connections are on the right side of the processor. (See “Resources,” page 161, for a picture of where to find these connections.) Place the screwdriver between the VBB and GND connections. Hold for 60 seconds to reset the processor.
