How Do You Resurface A Dry-Erase Board?
After constant use, especially by marker-happy kids, a dry-erase board will develop an impenetrable film of smeared ink. Though the initial marks can be removed with a cloth or eraser, the residue will simply compound itself. Parents may be inclined to try and clean the erase board, but most household cleaners can actually exacerbate the problem. To be sure, some cleaners can actually damage the board’s coating. The only solution is to resurface the board. Measure the dimensions of the old erase board, ensuring you have enough porcelain skin for the job. Wipe down the old erase board with any conventional spray cleaner. This will ensure the new skin will adhere properly. Slowly peel the adhesive backing on the porcelain skin. This part can get tricky as the adhesive can be very cumbersome. Set the porcelain skin in one top corner and press firmly to the old erase board surface. Use the hand-held roller to smooth out the porcelain skin, removing any trapped air pockets.
