The slats should be in the horizontal opened position. Unhook the blinds from the wall by lifting them out of the brackets. You may need to use a chair or ladder to reach them. Lay the blinds on a flat surface to work on them. Pry off the caps on the end of the roller of the blinds with a flat screwdriver. Find the knots in the end of the lift cord inside the roller.
