Just follow these steps to replace or restore chairs with padded vinyl seats when you can not financially afford to have them professionally upholstered. Remove the padded seat from the chair’ s frame. In my case, I had to remove three screws from the bottom of the frame and the seat came off. Cut or remove any remaining vinyl from the padding. Open the tablecloth with vinyl side face down. Place the wooden part of the seat on the tablecloth and draw a pattern in the shape of the seat. Draw the pattern approximately 10 inches away from the actual edge of the seat to give yourself enough material for folding. Cut the pattern. Assemble the seat and the pad and place them face down on the vinyl pattern. Make sure that when you flip the seat over, the vinyl side of the tablecloth is on top.
