How Do You Reset A Lost Username & Password In Windows XP?

0

Microsoft Windows XP allows you to create several user names on the local machine. If you have administrator rights on the machine, you can reset the user’s password. Resetting the user’s password gives the user the ability to log in to the machine. The process is accomplished in the User Account console in the Control Panel section of the Windows machine. In this console, the administrator can add, edit and delete users from the computer. Log in to Windows XP using the administrator account or as a user with administrative privileges. Click the Windows XP “Start” menu and select “Control Panel.” Double-click the icon labeled “User Accounts.” This opens the console where you can edit passwords. Click the user name you want to edit. Select “Change my password.” Enter the current password into the text box that pops up. Enter the new user password into the text box labeled “Type a new password.” In the next text box, type it again to confirm the entry. Click the “Change Password” button
