How Do You Reset A 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Check Engine Light?
If you have made your own repairs to your 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer, you may have discovered that the “check engine” light is still on. Since the car’s computer stores diagnostic codes and triggers the check engine light, it tells you when repairs are necessary. However, it does not automatically know when the problem has been fixed. Fortunately, resetting the check engine light is a simple task that you can complete in less than 20 minutes. Make sure that the car is off. Open the hood and locate the negative cable on the battery. The negative cable is black, while the positive cable is red. Loosen the nut on the clamp securing the negative cable to the negative battery post. Pull the clamp off the post so that the cable is no longer connected to the battery. Wait ten to 15 minutes. Replace the clamp on the battery post. Tighten the nut to secure the connection between the cable and the battery.
