How Do You Research Pollution Sources In The United States?
If you’re looking for a place to live, it’s nice to know what kind of Polluters may be in the neighborhood you’re moving into. Or you may want to know why it smells funny when the wind is blowing east. If you live in the U.S. you can look up pollution sources on a map maintained by the Environmental Protection Agency. Go to the Windows to My Environment page at the EPA. http://www.epa.gov/enviro/wme/ Enter the location you’re interested in seeing in the search fields and click on create my window. You can search by zip code, city, or latitude/longitude. This should bring up a map showing different types of pollution as different colored squares. To find out more about a particular site, click on the corresponding square color on the map key. This should bring up a page with information on how to get more information. Turn on and off the different types of pollution by checking the box next to them on the key. This will help you figure out what’s going on at sites with multiple activiti
