The access card is the part of your Direc TV system that allows you to watch your selected programming package. The Direc TV card has your account information–including programming choices–uploaded on it and communicates with the receiver and satellite dish. Over time, it might become necessary to reprogram your access card to ensure it works properly. Turn off the Direc TV receiver by pressing the power button. Disconnect the power by unplugging the receiver from the wall outlet. Once the unit is turned off and the power is disconnected, locate the Direc TV access-card slot on the receiver. On most models, it is in the lower right corner of the unit. Open the door allowing entry to the access-card slot and pull the Direc TV card toward you to remove it from its slot. The card should slide out easily; do not force it. With the power still disconnected, wait 30 seconds before reinserting the Direc TV access card into its slot.
