How Do You Repot An Asparagus Fern?
Asparagus ferns, despite their name, are not part of the fern family. They are closely related to asparagus, but do not produce any edible fruit. Asparagus ferns grow well in a sunny location and thrive with large amounts of water. Asparagus ferns grow quickly, causing the roots to push the plant out of the pot. Repotting the plant will prevent this. Move the whole plant into a new larger pot, or divide it among several smaller pots. Fill a pot less than halfway full with high-quality potting soil. Select a pot larger than the current pot holdign the fern. Loosen the soil around the edges of the pot holding the fern carefully. If the pot is made of plastic, push in the sides of the pot slightly. Remove the plant and surrounding soil from the pot and place it in the new pot. Work the soil around the roots carefully with your fingers to slightly loosen the roots. Fill the rest of the pot with soil and pat it down to eliminate any air pockets.
