How Do You Report Census Index Problems?
The U.S. Census is an effort to count all people living in the U.S., citizens and non-citizens alike. This is achieved by creating an index of all residents in each state and then compiling the information to view information about the U.S. as a whole. Workers from the Census Bureau are delivering a census form to every household in every state. The census workers ask that all households fill out the form and return it in the mail by April 1. A pre-paid return envelope is included with each form to send the completed census form to the government. However, problems and questions with the census may occasionally arise. Determine the source of the problem that you have. If it is a problem with the questionnaire, call the Telephone Questionnaire Assistance center at 1-866-872-6868. A Spanish-speaking line is available at 1-866-928-2010. Contact your nearest community center or housing assistance shelter if you do not have a permanent residence.
