The U-joints (universal joints) on a Triumph TR6 are important components of the driveline. If the bearings in the U-joints get worn, the result is gearbox vibration, clunking noises from the driveline and eventually screeching noises. U-joints should be inspected regularly and replaced if needed. Raise the car with a floor jack and place it securely on jack stands or lift the vehicle with an automotive lift to access the underside. Remove the exhaust system from the mid-pipe back if it gets in the way of removing the drive shaft. Mark the relationship of the drive-shaft flange and the universal (U-joint) flange for reassembly at either end of the drive shaft.
