The water pump is like the heart of the cooling system in your Mitsubishi 3000GT. If the water pump is faulty, it could cause a lot of problems in your vehicle’s engine. Make sure to change a leaky water pump to keep the engine running smoothly. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Place a drain pan underneath the radiator. When the engine is cool, drain the cooling system from the radiator into the pan. Take off the undercover to the engine. Take the clamp bolt off of the power steering hose. Support the engine from underneath and take off the mount bracket to the engine. Remove the timing belt and the alternator brace and disconnect the coolant hoses from the water pump. Loosen and remove the bolts to the water pump, taking note to their locations for reinstall as they are of varying lengths. Remove the gasket and o-ring and discard. Clean all mounting surfaces to the water pump on the engine block and moisten a new o-ring with water and install it onto the front of the inlet pipe.
