How Do You Replace The Water Pump In A Cadillac Escalade?

0

The water pump is integral to your Cadillac Escalade’s cooling system. If it fails to circulate the coolant through the system, then the pump may need replacing to keep your engine from overheating and causing serious damage. Whether you have a 4.8L, 5.3L, 5.7L, 6.0L, 6.5L, 7.4L or 8.1L engine on your escalade, you’ll find the water pump on the front of the engine with a drive pulley attached and either a V-belt or serpentine belt running around this pulley. Drain the coolant from the radiator. Disconnect the air outlet and inlet duct and then disconnect the water pump from the inlet radiator hose. Disconnect the clutch assembly from the cooling fan and remove the upper fan shroud. Remove the drive belt, the surge tank and heater hoses and then disconnect the coolant pump from the radiator outlet hose. Remove the water pump and attach the new one, tightening the bolts to 11 ft. lbs. for the first pass. For the final pass, tighten the bolts to 22 ft. lbs. Attach the water pump drive bel
