How Do You Replace The Thermostat On A Home Air Conditioner?
One of the most important pieces of a home air conditioner is the thermostat. Without a thermostat, your air conditioner would run continuously until the power switch was turned off manually. The thermostat saves energy by keeping your home at a specific temperature. Changing to a programmable thermostats makes your system even more efficient because you can limit the air conditioning to certain hours of the day instead of wasting energy cooling your home while you are at work all day. Switch off the home’s main breaker so there is no power running to the air conditioner while you are working. Remove the cover of the thermostat. Loosen the screws that hold the thermostat onto the mounting plate. Carefully take the thermostat off of the mounting plate without damaging the glass mercury tube inside. Mark the location of each thermostat wire with masking tape. Remove the terminal screws and disconnect the wires from the thermostat. Loosen the screws holding the mounting plate on the wall
