How Do You Replace The Starter Motor On A 1995 Cavalier?
It’s really a pretty simple repair. FIRST unhook the “neg” cable from the battery. This will keep you from shorting out the battery and getting burnt. There is no fuse to the starter to protect the wiring from an overload. Then all you need to do is unbolt the old one, move the wiring from the old one to the new one. Pay attention to which wires go where. Bolt the new one up. On some cars you can unhook the wiring while it is still bolted to the motor. This is a little less awkward if you can do it this way. If there are any shims on your old starter use the same ones for the new one.
