How Do You Replace The Shoes On A Hayward Aquabug?
The soft rubber shoes on the Hayward Aquabug propel the cleaner around the pool and keep the hard plastic surfaces of the Aquabug’s bottom from coming in contact with the vinyl liner pool bottom. When the shoes wear out, it’s important to replace them right away to keep the Aquabug working properly and to prevent tears in the vinyl liner. Here’s how to do it. Turn off the pool pump and remove the Aquabug from the pool. Disconnect the hose assembly from the leader hose, and turn the Aquabug upside down on the pool deck or work bench. Check the wear on each of the 4 shoes by pushing each shoe assembly down against the edge of the pod with your thumb. Run a finger along the place where the edge of the pod and the edge of the shoe meet. If the shoe edge is not higher than the pod edge, it is too worn to work properly, and it’s time to replace it. Work the blade of a screwdriver underneath the base of the shoe where it attaches to the pod assembly. Gently pry upward until the shoe pops out.
