How Do You Replace The Oil Pan Gasket In A Toyota Tacoma?
Oil pans on many Toyota Tacoma trucks don’t have a regular gasket. Instead, they require a liquid sealant to prevent oil from leaking. Applying new sealant is a fairly easy procedure, but it may vary slightly from year to year. This is how to apply new oil pan sealant on the popular 2000 Toyota Tacoma with 2RZ-FE and 3RZ-FE engines. Unhook the negative battery cable. Lift the front of the pickup up on jacks and secure it firmly on a jackstand. Block the rear wheels to keep them from rolling. Use a socket wrench to remove the two nuts and 16 bolts holding the oil pan and remove the oil pan from the engine. Work carefully so you don’t damage the oil pan flanges. Clean the sealing surface with surface or engine cleaner. Apply the appropriate sealant or “Formed in Place” gasket sealer to the sealing surface of the oil pan. Work quickly.
