Replacing the oil pan gasket isn’t a simple task, but is more complicated on vehicles after 2000. Here’s how to change the oil pan gasket on the Pathfinder models produced before 2000. Set the gears in park and jack up the front of the Nissan Pathfinder enough to slide a jack securely underneath. Block the rear wheels to keep them stabilized while you’re working. Set a drain pan under the engine and remove the drain plug on the bottom of the oil pan with a wrench. Let the old oil drain into the pan. Once the oil pan is empty, replace the drain plug.
