Here’s how to change the oil pan gasket in a 1997 to 2003 model Ford F-150. Raise the truck with jacks and support it safely on jack stands. Block the rear wheels as an added safety measure. If your truck is a 4X4, remove the front axle housing. Locate the drain plug on the bottom of the oil pan and place a large bucket under the plug. Remove the drain plug with a socket wrench and let the oil drain into the bucket. Remove the 16 bolts holding the oil pan in place and carefully lower the oil pan.
