There are three motor mounts and one torque strut on a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser. The main engine mount is on the passenger side strut tower. There is another one on the lower back side that attaches to the engine cradle and to the lower block, one on the top of the transmission and a torque strut on the passenger side under the car. The torque strut, or dog bone, is used for for torque control, not support. The strut that is being replaced is the primary mount located on the passenger side. It is mounted with a vertical bolt at the strut tower and a horizontal bolt at the engine. Always check all the mounts for torn rubber or metal-to-metal contact creating vibration through the car. Place the floor jack under the engine oil pan and position it close to the crankshaft pulley side of the pan. Raise the jack just enough to start lifting the engine.
