Heating elements can be quickly replaced with only a few hand tools. It is a good idea to write down the brand and model number of your dryer to take with you to an appliance store to purchase a new dryer heating element. Unplug the dryer power cord from the dryer electrical outlet. Use the blade of a putty knife inserted between the top of the toe panel and bottom of the front panel to locate the retaining clips that secure the toe panel. The clips are usually 4 inches from each corner in front of the dryer. Press in on the clips with the putty knife while pulling the toe panel out. Place the panel out of the way. Remove the screw that secures the top of the heat shield to the heating element housing with a Phillips-head screwdriver. The heating element housing is on the lower right of the dryer. Pull the heat shield down and locate
