How Do You Replace The Door Seal On An Upright Freezer?
The door seal of an upright freezer keeps warm air out and cold air in, so having a good seal helps keep energy costs down. The seal also prevents too much moisture from getting into the freezer and causing ice buildup. Door seals are soft and will wear out over time. If your freezer’s door seal is cracked or rotting, you can replace it yourself. If possible, buy a seal made specifically for your freezer model from an appliance or home improvement store. However, if you can’t find a seal made for your freezer, you can use a “generic” seal. Take all of the food out of the freezer. Unplug it and allow it to defrost. Gently pull up on the door seal until you can see the screws that attach it to the bracket inside the door. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screws until you are able to pull the seal out (you don’t need to remove the screws). Lay the old seal next to its replacement, and use a razor knife to trim the new seal to the proper length. Be careful not to damage the new seal. Wet a
